On this day, we hold the heart of gratitude to pay tribute to the heroes fighting on the front line and to remember the soldiers who died.

The State Council of China decided to hold a nationwide mourning activity on April 4, 2020 to mourn the martyrs and compatriots who died in the battle of the new coronary pneumonia epidemic.During this period, the whole country and the embassies and consulates stationed abroad set flags at half mast to mourn and stop public entertainment activities nationwide.

 

Since 10 o'clock on April 4, the people of the whole country have observed a three minute silence, with cars, trains, ships and air defense alarms sounding.

This is the first time in China to launch a national mourning for a major public health emergency. Before that, in order to mourn the victims of Wenchuan earthquake, Yushu earthquake in Qinghai Province and Zhouqu earthquake in Gansu Province, the flag of Tian'anmen Square was lowered by half. 

On this day, we are missing our loved ones.

In the past Qing and Ming Dynasties, we would all go to the cemetery to pay homage to our ancestors. This year, because of the special epidemic situation, most of the cemeteries can only go to the cemetery by booking a limited number of places.

So a website for offering sacrifices to ancestors on the Internet came into being. After choosing the objects of sacrifices, writing down the words you want to say, and then following the steps of choosing flowers, lighting candles, offering sacrifices to wine, offering incense, etc., you can choose what you want to say to your family and what you want to send.

Those strong emotions and confidences are connected by lines of digital codes, flowing in cyberspace. I hope it can travel through space and be accepted by people far away from the other side of the world; it can travel through time and be seen by people many years later.
